Challenge.06
Take the time to do something nice for your next-door neighbor and get to know them better. You can bake them cookies, buy them a Starbucks gift card, give them a fruit basket, stop by and say hello, etc. Be creative and genuine!

i really didnt want to do this. no, not the blogging but the part where i had to do something nice for my neighbor. dont know why im so scared/anxious to do something nice for my neighbors cuz i think im a pretty nice guy, probably in the top 10% of nice people in the world or something.
i didnt exactly do something for my "neighbor" but who exactly is your neighbor right?? in this story, my neighbor was the black homeless guy who sits in front of starbucks who i barely pay attention to as i walk home from long hours at the office. now that i think about it, i could have sworn he had a bottle of hard liquor the other day which makes me want to pay even less attention to the guy but today was different.
(the movie unfaithful plays in the background and i am distracted)
we had pizza. pizza for all the ones who stayed late. i took two slices and walked to the bart station and before finishing my first one, i remembered i had to do the challenge and decided id give the 2nd slice to the next homeless guy i saw. he was sitting there in front of starbucks, where i knew he'd be and i didnt even think about what id say or whatever and offered him the pizza.
"want my pizza?"
"what? pizza? yeah sure pizza!"
"here you go man"
"thanks bro you have a good night" (he was really happy!)
"good night"
and that was it. short and sweet but very genuine. a simple exchange between 2 people. not between a young professional and a homeless dude but 2 human beings. it was so casual it was almost unchallenging.
i havent really processed it and what god was trying to teach me or what effect my pizza had but im actually very curious if this will start some type of super random relationship and secretly wish that we can talk a bit more the next time.
